Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a motivated, performance-driven Communications/PR and Content Specialist to join our team. In this role, you are responsible for the development and execution of external communication strategy as well the development of engaging content that clients, partners, and the industry will find compelling. Our messaging must speak to these constituents, addressing a variety of needs, including external/internal communications, public relations, local articles, marketing material, and business development deliverables such as proposals, presentations and supporting collateral. In this role, you will help develop our thought leadership efforts as well as assist in implementing our content strategy / storytelling agenda for various communication channels. In order to succeed you will be required to gain deep understanding of our services and solution requirements, as well as industry best practices. Candidates must demonstrate a strong bias for action, accountability, and drive to resolution with prior experience with B2B companies, particularly commercial real estate or related industries, with a strong track record of defining and delivering content that drives success. The successful candidate is passionate about being a brand advocate, is highly creative, and has the ability to deliver results.
Job Description

  • Create and distribute external communications included in communications plan; identify if additional local or region communications are required
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and usage of best practices in all external communications
  • Update calendar of annual external communications and update with additional content created throughout the year
  • Write news and feature articles for the intranet and print publications
  • Evaluate effectiveness of external communications against key performance measures
  • Coordinate Public Relations for region market and develop content needed to support PR plan including
  • Identify and build strategic relationships for the company with national, local, and trade media
  • Update media list (e.g., national, local, trade, and bloggers), news release pipeline, and distribution calendar
  • Boost company’s brand awareness, engagement, and thought leadership with the usage of various social media platforms
  • Dedication to learning and understanding the commercial real estate services industry, and should proactively engage with market leaders and sales professionals to stay abreast of newsworthy activity that can be promoted through PR, social media and internal communications channels
  • Examples of external communications that may need to be developed include:
  • News / press releases (e.g., for major transactions, management assignments, corporate service, new employee announcements)
  • Develop, aggregate, and curate content for websites and social media content / storytelling including daily management and updates and management of social media community
  • Speaking / thought leadership presentations
  • Content for select national and trade publications
  • Write, edit, produce and curate the best content in the industry from initial copy development to asset production
  • Develop scripts and supporting materials for internal and external videos
  • Demonstrate initiative by interviewing individuals, attending meetings, and researching printed and online resources to obtain information and data for publications, verify facts, and clarify information
  • Build a community of influencers and contributors for thought leadership for articles, blog posts and long-form content, handling editorial direction, copy editing and asset management for each
  • Collaborate with graphic designers and video editors on multi-faceted campaigns
  • Write guest blog posts and magazine articles on behalf of company executives
  • Measure results for continual refinement and improvement


  • Ideal candidate would have marketing and communications experience in the Commercial Real Estate industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, English, communications, or relevant field of study
  • 5-7 years of communications/PR/content experience, ideally with a strong mix of employee communications and external communications. Prior experience implementing communications and marketing strategies
  • Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Strong portfolio of published or professional samples in a variety of marketing communications and channels
  • Strong, working understanding of the media, an ability to effectively write for a wide range of audiences, from customer communication to internal employee communication, and content for marketing collateral, including using the appropriate format, tone and AP style
  • Proven ability to understand, synthesize, and reorganize complex information
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams, and to prioritize with tight deadlines
  • Must be an experienced and highly competent writer who can quickly modify a piece of content or creative for use in multiple channels in various formats
  • Ability to interact well with a diverse group of technical and non-tech people, including senior executives, sales, marketing, development, partners and clients
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Physical Requirements

  • Involves work of a general office nature; typically includes extended periods of sitting and/or operation of a computer for up to 8 hours a day
  • May involve periods of standing, such as operating at a copier/fax/scanner
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to write and type
  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented orally and in writing
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and orally so others will understand
  • Regularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, graphics, and computer displays
